When
a person chooses to make Reiki a regular part of their lives, it is
recommended that they become attuned to Reiki so that they may give
treatments to themselves or others.
The
most important feature of Reiki is its teaching method, as is not taught
in the way other healing techniques are taught. Reiki is very simple
to learn & easy to practice because Reiki is not taught, but is
transferred. The process of transferring this energy is called a Reiki
attunement, or initiation. With the help of Reiki energy, sacred symbols,
& mantras, a Reiki Master will open the energy-flowing channels
in the initiate [which is called nadis in yoga]. Once the initiate has
received their four Reiki attunements, they are connected to the source
of the Reiki energy for life. The beauty of this system is that even
if the initiate does not use this gift on a regular basis, it is always
there to be re-accessed whenever the initiate chooses. Only a Reiki
Master has the power & knowledge to initiate someone into Reiki.
Reiki
is taught in three levels, or Degrees. Each initiation takes three
hours to complete. There is a 21 day cleansing process required before
the student may move on to the next level. Being initiated into Reiki
is a powerful, holy, & spiritual experience, & should be treated
as such. See
Preparing for a Reiki Attunement.
When scheduling your appointment, please plan to set aside three
to four hours for your attunement.
REIKI
LEVEL I : Level I generally includes
the Reiki Principles, Reiki History, a simple meditation technique &
four Reiki attunements. The first level of training is an initiation
into Reiki: it's uses, hand positions & healing patterns. The student's
channels of energy are opened so that he or she may learn the techniques
& uses of Reiki, allowing the employment of Reiki for personal benefit
& helping others.
REIKI
LEVEL II : Second Degree teaches the
first three Reiki Symbols, Distant /Absentee Healing, Chakras, Client
Etiquette, & a simple meditation technique. The student undergoes
four Reiki attunements. Some conceptualize Reiki Level II as being
a deepening of the Reiki experience, & a greater commitment to
Reiki. Second degree Reiki is accompanied by a great degree of power,
as the flow of Reiki energy is increased about 15 to 20 times. The
student will be given the first three Reiki symbols, mantras &
their method of application.
REIKI
LEVEL III :
(Level III is usually split
into two separate parts, commonly referred to as 3a and 3b. As many
of my students wish to have the attunement, but not the teacher training,
I will refer to Reiki Level 3b as Level IV.)
The Third Degree teaches the remaining Reiki Symbols, Healing Techniques,
Client Etiquette, & a Reiki Meditation. The student experiences
the final four attunements. With the completion of Level III, the
student is now a Reiki Master. Master Level Reiki is accompanied by
a greater degree of power, as the flow of Reiki energy is increased
to its maximum capacity. This Reiki level empowers the Master healer
to pass on Reiki attunement up to the third degree level.
REIKI
LEVEL IV (3b) is
Teacher Training. Here, the student is shown how to initiate others
into Reiki It is a step-by step- process that teaches the student
the correct procedures for attunements. Upon completion of this Level,
the student is now a Reiki Master Teacher. Note: All students will
be tested on Level II teachings before being initiated to Level III
or IV.
